Roosevelt Speech
Summary:
Roosevelt main goal of delivering this speech was to inform the American public that Japanese forces had attacked Pearl Harbor the day before. He assures the American people that he will you his position as commander an chief to protect the citizen of the United States.

"Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American island of Oahu, the Japanese ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. And while this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or of armed attack.", said Roosevelt. This statement showed that he did not want to come out an say that without a doubt this was a deliberate attack on the islands.
